About Family Recovery Solutions
Substance Abuse Counseling

For over twenty years, Carole Bennett, MA, has been personally enmeshed in the world of addiction and recovery stemming from her own family’s alcohol and drug dependency issues.  Professionally, her Master’s in Clinical Psychology has afforded her work as a treatment counselor for the Salvation Army and the Council of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.  This combination has made Carole an expert in the field of family substance abuse counseling.

A decade ago, Carole founded Family Recovery Solutions, a counseling center targeted to the family and friends who struggle with their loved ones' addiction issues.  Carole’s practice is worldwide as she counsels clients by phone, whether they be in Monte Carlo, France, or Vancouver, Canada.  In this safe, confidential environment, Carole works with the family members as they learn about the important role they play — or not — in their loved ones' recovery, through new communication, boundaries, family recovery contracts, and more.

Carole is a staff columnist for the Huffington Post and Psychology Today writing on addiction and recovery from the view point of the family. In addition, she has written numerous articles for recovery newspapers, lectured (for CEUs and  to residential rehab family groups), and  presented commentary for KCBS in conjunction with the television movie about Lois Wilson, the co-founder of Al-Anon.  Carole will be the featured counselor for the Al-Anon yearly magazine Al-Anon Faces Alcoholism 2012.

Carole’s first book, Reclaim Your Life — You and the Alcoholic/Addict has become an invaluable guide for family members, friends, clinicians, and recovery centers, as well as the alcoholic/addicts themselves.  It is endorsed by the President/CEO of the National Council on Alcoholism and other Drug Dependencies Inc. and is displayed and referenced at the Betty Ford Center.  As of December 2011, Carole has received 24 five-star reviews on Amazon and her book is available on Kindle, the Nook, and sold worldwide.

Her second book, Is There a Dry Drunk in Your Life — and other unsettling questions ... and answers was published by Sea Hill Press (May 2015) and is also available worldwide.

To help promote her book, Carole has done over 100 radio interviews across the country, on stations ranging from rock-and-roll to Christian-based programming.  In January 2012, she launched a monthly radio show From Heartache to Hope — Family Life with the Alcoholic/Addict for the Pennsylvania station WBHB/WAYZ.
